Cameo Extravaganza! PDF Print E-mail

So the crew of Anubic Darque Studios and Writers of the Apocalypse were haveing a good old chat and we realised that we haven't held a contest for a very long time. And we thought that perhaps it was overdue, because we love holding contests and we love giving away winner prizes.  So after much illegal wrangling  we came up with the idea of a joint contest: the Cameo Extravaganza!

Bloodbound and Akashik will be hosting a cameo contest together! Bloodbound's cameo is going to be the best death cameo, and Akashik is the best interruptive cameo.  This is where it gets a bit tricky.

For Bloodbound you have to give an idea for a death cameo. Yes thats right, how would you want to die if you were in Blood Bound.  The best idea wins. So, if you think a cameo of yourself walking down the road and being killed by a falling anvil is the cameo for you, send us the idea. There will be one winner, and that winner  is the one who gets to actually have a cameo IN BLOOD BOUND.  (That's right, we take you or your avatar and you get to be on a page.)  You don't need to be able to draw for this; you just need to be able to read and write the English language well enough for me to understand you.

Once you're sure of your cameo idea, e-mail Anubis at
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  with your cameo idea. Then it will be put into a table of cameo ideas for DEATH TO JUDGE. (Yep. We're being impartial here.) so get those entries in before the 29th of June!  NO LATER!

On July 4, you will find out on the main page who has won

Grand prize winner gets a laminated high-quality print of the page they appear on.  Anubis  or Jinni  will even sign it if you like.

And now THE RULES:

1. Duplicate cameo ideas will not be accepted. Whomever puts in the cameo idea first gets the entry. However, Anubis will be thoughtful and email you back to let you know yours is a duplicate should that happen and let you try again.

2. Only 1 cameo idea per person.

3. You must be over the age of 16 year to enter.

4.  All entrants agree that they will not sue Anubic Darque Studios nor take advantage of them in any way through this contest.  The use of the winner's cameo and their avatar or character idea is a one time only thing done completely with permission and will not result in any legal problems that would make us hate you.  Or at least make us resent you late at night when we wake up after our succubi experiences.

5.  Cameos involving copyrighted characters that could get the ADS sued will not be accepted, and no. Anubis will not email you back to tell you so.

6. No triple x-cameo suggestions allowed.  Sorry but thats a legal minefield.

7. Be sure to describe your character in detail, if the cameo involves one. But since its a cameo, it's going to involve. So please be specific. I want to model it right.

8 The prize is that you will get a cameo on Blood Bound that may or may not involve your death.  Your idea that you send may or may not be used.  So no hating cos you appeared and got killed in a different way than your entry

... more rules to be added if the need arises.  But we hope not.

How to enter:

E-mail Anubis  at
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  with your contest entry with subject line "I wanna die on BB" You have until june 29 to get them in.  No attachments allowed. Anubis will delete all attachments. Write your cameo idea into the body of your email in plain text. Include your contact information,  name, age, rank, IQ, blood type, and whether or not you like cranberries.

Okay okay, just include your contact information, name and age.  The winner will be contacted and asked to provide snail mail address and a photo or reference art for them or their avatar.

Anubis will try to send everyone who enters a brief "I got it" note. If you do not get it, it's okay to try again ONE MORE TIME. Please don't inundate Anubis with the same email throughout the course of a day.

And that's it! Happy creative writing everyone!  And if you're interested, check out the Writers of the Apocolapse version of the contest by visiting the website here:

Daz Studio 3 Advanced PDF Print E-mail

Daz 3d has been one of the biggest names in Poser related models and props created their own cut down version of Poser, known as Daz Studio.   This was a free "Tell ware" program that got many people, myself included, into 3D work.  Over the years, Daz Studio became more powerfull with more features,  makeing it more professional  and more  enjoyable to use.

In June 2009  Daz introduced both a free and a paid version of Studio, known as Daz Studio 3   Core and Advanced, and I was fortunate enough to beta test, and also have both versions.

Studio Core incudes many of the upgrades in the Advanced version including the new 3Delight  8.5 however  Advanced includes lighting and morphing abilities that  for a serious user is very usefull

Many of the plugins  that worked on V2 of Studio  are still being rewritten for V3, in particular ones that I use by Omnifreaker (Pwtoon, Relight etc) however they will be released for Daz 3 users as a free upgrade.

On the whole, a casual user does not need the have the advanced features and will have a lot of fun, and produce beautiful work.  For those who do professional level work, while Poser may still have more features, (hair simulation etc)  Daz Studio Advanced is an excelent tool for any 3D figure artist.  And when combined with Carrara 7  and Hexigon 2.5,  the sky and your mind is the only limit to what you can do.
